Why is Energi so afraid of "negativity"?
The last few posts on here are refreshing to see and you can see the true colours of the community moderators. I feel like this post might get attacked too. Anything that isn't perceived as mindlessly "positive" is immediately censored.
Where's a safe place to engage with the community and ask the more difficult questions? I understand not wanting to deter new users, however there must be a safe space where questions can be asked. I have yet to find that...
Bitcointalk has always been a great place; it's been one of the sources of my information for my crypto journey and helped shine a light on how other people experience various projects. Reading the other posts looks like we might be safe from censorship?
Most of us have seen what repeated constant negativity from a person can cause. This isn't just online, it is the same in life as well but you find far more negativity online where people can "hide" behind a fake name. Go check out some servers that allow constant negativity to flourish. Generally the staff gets sick of those people and leave. Now as to what you call the "true colors" of the community moderators, why should they allow someone to spread lies, negativity and misinformation? Anyone who believes they can come in and do that stuff needs to find how the real world works. Go to a store and start constantly bad mouthing them and see what happens. At best you get tossed from the store and at worst you get arrested. Why you would expect us to put up with that stuff just because you hide behind a fake name is beyond me. That lack of respect is not tolerated anywhere in life.
For example, we had a community member who repeatedly tried to jump all over us on multiple platforms because we would not lock a wallet on their say so. No proof of a crime, no proof of involvement but that person used it to push their negative outlook and completely avoided mentioning the fact that locking some random account on a persons word would allow massive abuse in our recovery process. This person constantly argued about it and even got people to agree with them regardless of the fact that the person could have picked a completely random account and demanded it be locked (can you say revenge for example?). Trying to explain anything to that person was nothing but a waste of time and they deliberately did it to try and spread negativity. After removing the person from our communities, we had to go through the whole process of explaining how the process works again and what there is to prevent abuse of it to multiple people who would actually listen without the person constantly trying to force their negative attacks. This is a perfect example of the difference between allowing negativity and removing it. That person had no other purpose than to spread negativity and damage and leaving them in the community was not only causing a negative atmosphere whenever they were on but it also allowed them to spread their misinformation that they tried to manipulate people with.
All of our platforms can be used for discussion but those pushing negativity, misinformation or lies constantly get removed. Why should we accept people doing nothing but spreading negativity while ignoring anything that doesn't fit what they want. Why should we accept people harassing our community? We actually care for our community and do not put up with people who have no purpose other than to try and spread negativity and hate.
Bitcoin talk can sometimes be good (other than being known as nothing but a forum to attack projects) but on the other side, you cannot trust what people write in lots of cases. For example, go back to March of 2020 on this thread and look at the disgruntled employee who did their best to spread lies about this all being an exit scam and exchanges would never open up after the Gen 3 upgrade. We are still here, exchanges were opened after the delay to ensure there wasn't any problems and yet he had multiple people supporting him with his lies including some major scammers. We see this often and we will not put up with it. Those that exist to do nothing but attack projects get removed. We still have many people in the community who discuss things that sometimes end up negative but they are both respectful and their whole purpose isn't to spread negativity. You get respect when you show respect. Sadly the fact people hide behind their fake names tends to make them think they can do whatever they wish with no repercussions.
As a final part, I stand behind my posts here and the ban that I gave to the last person. They were given time, like everyone, to see what they are really like and after repeated negativity (and not a single post of anything but them pushing their negativity), they were removed. Then they ran here to try and push more negativity, lies and misinformation. So it just shows more that their ban was fully justified. This is a person who still says our roadmaps are fake, and has been informed repeatedly about adapting, just ignores that pretty much every project adapts their plans to changing conditions and uses it to push negativity.
Anyways, have a great day.
