Those two shouldn't be in the same category because If I want to check what's new in the established altcoins world, I shouldn't have to go through threads about ICOs and unlisted ERC20 tokens.

The problem probably starts from the fact that this is a Bitcoin forum (don't kill me for this, instead just listen, please) and this makes a big number of old members see the forum as "bitcoin stuff" and "others". The fact that altcoiners are not too vocal in meta also contributes to this.

Then, although splitting the two would maybe make some sense, it would not help much. There are still a lot of new coins (not established, not listed, some even very new) and one can easily get lost between them. Also I expect the a majority of altcoiners don't even know if this or that "thing" they hold is a coin or a token.

All in all, while in theory the request for the "split" does make sense (and I do support it), in reality, even if they're not split, it's not such a big problem.
