Forging improves the stats of the item! 
For example, if the speed is 1 on level 1, on level 2 it is 2 + all other stats (Attack/Defenese) etc are improving too!
And if you forged it to level 5, you earn additonal CMC (through the new bonus quest)!

I have attempted to forge the item 5 times, but I always get an ‘unfortunately the blacksmith couldn’t upgrade the item this time’ message. Am I doing something wrong or am I just getting bad RNG and the forge is ‘failing’?
