Tokens don't have their own blockchains and use the infrastructure by one of the coins. Like ERC-20 tokens use the Ethereum blockchain.
Those two shouldn't be in the same category because If I want to check what's new in the established altcoins world, I shouldn't have to go through threads about ICOs and unlisted ERC20 tokens. It works the other way around as well. Since you are an ICOer like you said, you shouldn't have to see the Monero and Dash announcements while you are searching for ICO projects.
