Hey Leea, good question. There was a blog article released recently about this very topic:
https://worldmobile.io/blog/post/mesh-networks/

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks, I went through the blog but it does not actually answer my question: how are you guys different from all the past attempts at mesh networks in Africa that tried and failed?

The blog post explains about mesh networks. Which is great but I already know this,,, and as the blog says, mesh is a tech that has been around for almost 40 years now but why has it not been successful in Africa. I know the answers to some of this but hoped to see how you guys will overcome those problems.

Many companies have successfully deployed parts of the World Mobile business already: WiFi hotspots in cafes or restaurants and solar powered nodes have all been field tested. However no one has yet put them together as one solution and built a hybrid mobile network for mass adoption.

World Mobile believes the introduction of the sharing economy, a sustainable business model will be the key to successfully launching a mesh network. A problem shared is a problem solved.

Their unique approach to creating an inclusive mobile network allows anyone to own parts of the network and be rewarded financially for doing so and educating others.

World Mobile employs local ambassadors who travel to unconnected towns and villages to promote the sharing economy and educate the benefits it brings. In addition, instructions and maintenance material are created in local languages and distributed.

Peer to peer learning has been proven to be the most effective method to introduce new products, technologies and solutions anywhere in Africa and the wider world. This was validated in all of their proof of concepts.

Long term, WM will create a structured system to inform communities and users of additional services and opportunities available to them via the WM network. This will be community driven and supported by their partners that provide Value Added Services on their network making it a long term and sustainable model.

Hopefully that sheds some more light on the World Mobile approach and why they feel they will be successful.
