I've never watched a women's football match, so don't know if there will be an interesting match for this sport, but for men's football it's for sure.

Normally, men's football in the Olympic Games is one of the less prominent sports. The players are not from the main teams, they are usually only under-23.
The female is a little different, having already the main players in the tournament.

Seems to me that maybe basketball is a bit different, right? I remember they used to have the best of the best players at one time but don't know if that changed. Hell even the USA team had stars and that's huge considering the NBA contracts.

Yes it is different. In the case of football, there are two reasons why countries do not take the best players:
- The organization of the Olympic Games does not want football to overshadow the other models, many considered amateur (although they are no longer).
- FIFA fears that the Olympic Games will become a competitor to FIFA Mudial. Hence create more limiting rules in the Olympic Games.
