Personally, I believe to appeal to the general public we are probably going to have the most success with interviews, and podcasts. What I mean by podcasts is Joe Rogan style where he basically interviews people on the podcast, rather than having the same hosts talk about random stuff related to the forum, and Bitcoin every week.
The other ideas aside from OgNasty's idea would probably be more audience specific, and appealing the existing users on the forum more than the general public.
