Better they speculate on alts and dump them, proving Bitcoin stronger with every dump.

As an investor, we have our own choice on how to manage our funds, and if one decided to invest on altcoins than in bitcoin, I say it's not wrong, they just realize and they feel that they'll be more profitable investing in altcoins than in bitcoin. In fact, they are right if they think that way because there are altcoins that has a huge increase during the bull run this year while bitcoin only increase less than 10x from its cheapest price in 2019.

Investors and speculators are not necessary the same things. Of course an investor takes the same risk to capital but they take those risks after weighing in on the benefits and then usually they have a long term vision that comes into years of risk.

Speculators we talk about in altcoins are hardly like this. They are in it for quick profits and nothing else. They look at tokenomics and market potential rather than strong fundamentals as investors do.

More on quick gains than looking for real usages, but there are also investors who believes that the
project that they've holding will give them a huge amount of profits after holding it for certain time.

Long term investors who seek for fundamentals and community support will mostly choose bitcoin than any other alts,
as the popularity already earned more supporters.

either way, it depends from how investors/traders study the market  and follow the development.
