You don't need much guidance really in terms of exploring the forum. You just use some of your spare time reading threads and discussions, especially those pinned ones since you are a newcomer. By and by, you will learn things and how it works here.
Be not afraid to ask. But I guess it is always recommended to read more because other than current events related to cryptocurrency, it is most likely that classic topics have already been discussed a number of times here. You could actually even use your browser to search for specific discussions here on bitcointalk.
I also suggest you read historical threads. They're very rich in information.
