i saw a video on youtube how when replacing a faulty chip under a new chip they don't put some tin paste and they put it in place with a little flux and load it.
And it all works.

Yes, it's fine solder paste only needs if you see the terminal doesn't have enough solder, or if you can't easily solder the chip you will need a bit of them.
But it is still recommended to add a bit of solder paste to make sure all terminals from the chip is soldered.
