So, a lot of people gloating right now, but riddle me this, what were they supposed to do? Lean back and say "it's ok, you can kill thousands of people in NYC and other places for no reason at all and we will just let you do it, no repercussions what so ever"?
Running the taliban out of Afghanistan and killing Usama was the right thing to do, what was wrong was not going all in for a very long time. You can't change a society in 20 years, it take maybe 100 years.
The Taliban was largely irrelevant to us other than sheltering Al Quaeda (largely a US invention). Osama was eventually located in Pakistan (if the official story is true). All that was needed for the Taliban was to give them a swift kick in the pants and continue to do so on an as-needed basis. Once it was clear that Osama had made like a tree, we should have been out of there. Why we were farting around there for 20 years is beyond me (Oh wait, my cynicism is switched off).
Even OBL was killed in 2011 what US been doing there for another 10 years??? Now Biden said “ 'Nation building' never a #US goal in #Afghanistan, says Biden” then why US spent billions of dollars to train useless Afghan army. Where did the so called Afghan Air force go that have been in training for years?
