Holding is better than trading. If you buy Bitcoin, and hold it from 2017 to 2020 or 2020, you get profit.

If you buy Bitcoin in 2017 and trade it in 3 to 4 years to 2020 or 2021, I am not sure you will have profit now. If you use margin trading, I believe your orders would be liquidated many times in 3 or 4 years.

Don't take risk and practice margin trading. You will end with empty hands.
I cannot say that holding is the best way, or trading is the best way.
Because everybody has our own conditions and decided to take profits. Trading may best in someone, but not for another. And vice versa about holding.
Both trading and investing have their own risks.
Not all people have a big amount of money to invest in Bitcoin for the long term.
If we start with only $100, I will prefer to trade it than holding it for several years.
As what I am experiencing now. I am not a full-day trade, but I can enjoy being a trader. not only Bitcoin but also using it for trading other altcoins in order to take profits and increase my capital. However yeah, I also differentiate some of the profits to do a short-term investment, not for a day trade.
And this works for me by this strategy.
It means that know yourself, whether as a holder or even a trader, we have our own strategy and condition. Always learning about everything that we will take. So, it will be fit to us, not only following others to do something.
