The problem (that I've ranted about ad nauseam) is that most Newbies just don't make good posts or, as I said, I'm reading threads in sections where newcomers are just posting crap.
Obviously don't Merit those 
I often Merit users who don't post again after their first post. They come here to solve a problem, and after they're done, they don't need the forum anymore. Those aren't the best users for the future, but they are genuine users.Quote
I certainly do want to help lower-ranked members, but I've had the opinion for a long time that most new members are here just to make money, so they're not putting in a lot of effort when they write--and it shows.
Usually I can ugess their motives from their posts. And as long as I'm not too high on the Top senders to permabanned users list, I'm not worried.
