In the past my portfolio was having altcoins but later on when i gained knowledge bitcoin became my only favourite choice for investment so i am not interested in any altcoins available in the market at this time as most of them won't give you any returns in future because no project development is there so it's better to leave them floating in their boat.Your coins your choice and your money.
There are a lot of altcoins and they cannot be generalized. I do not know what altcoins you used to have, but I can assume that these were real shitcoins. But if you invest in top altcoins, then such investments will be as secure as investments in bitcoin. I think that over time you will rethink your choice.
