One of the core strengths of bitcoin is that it is decentralized, with all that it entails, which constitutes a fundamental pillar for providing Trust to bitcoin. A government/Central Bank made cryptocurrency lacks the prior fundamental argument.

Now could/will country centralized currencies contribute to making more people aware of bitcoin? Quite likely. Once people become accustomed to using some sort of wallet and using crypto in some form, it conforms a set of stepping stones that smoothen the learning curve to other crypto such as bitcoin, albeit the conceptual and operative differences.

Note: Merit is something one shouldn’t ask for. Doing so has the opposite effect to the desired outcome in any case.
