The formula is simple to understand. But it could be gamed if you hoard lots of sMerit, then you use all of it in a month.
I have noticed for a long time that the more merit you earn per month, the lower you go down in the table. It happened to me that I earned 350-400 merit per month and dropped to 5-6 place in the table.
