Oh indeed, Djokovic was the favorite for everyone. I talked to so many people, I was myself bloody certain he is going to go for the 21st Grand Slam title, and yet Medvedev got in his way. And seriously I just watched his gesture again, that gesture was just peaceful and in no way disrespectful. He even had a double fault to 40 : 30, imagine his pressure. No, that gesture isn't something I'd particularly dislike about his match.
Djokovic with high pressure, yes, every no.1 player will get it, it's just how can he manage it, if he frequently gets it, it's not the problem. However, during the match, Djokovic did not seem to be the no.1 player. Medvedev, who should be under pressure, play with relaxation, and going too easy to get 3 sets straight. Djokovic got pressure on himself (his obsession for 21 champion). he must play enjoy without a target.
Djokovic has been playing all his career with pressures and that's why he maintain his number 1 position for record weeks already. The problem is that Medvedev is really peaking at this point in his career, that's why he was able to win confidently, although Djokovic trying to mount a comeback in the third set but Medvedev was able to hold. Maybe Medvedev was relax in this game and throughout the tournament because he is a solid all around, just dropping one set in the entire tournament.
