It's definitely ridiculous.
I think that at the end of the day, people have way too much cash on their hands and they are simply trying to find a place to dump that excess liquidity.
That is pretty much the only use of NFTs, apart from (potentially) being a money laundering device. I do not believe in the long term viability of these collectables, although applied uses like music licensing could be possible.
Their collectibles, so it must be long term to gain value.
It's like keeping a Jordan shoes signed by Michael Jordan himself and when time flies by the value of it grows to a value no one will expect especially in auctions.
NFT's is a way to keep the item mint but the downside is the hacking issue or just being careless with your computer connected in the internet.
I think NFT can stay for a long time but the hype will subside, maybe in 2 - 3 years and another platform will float.
As to the question of OP with what will it be, who knows, a genius may have been born but he is still in the learning phase of discovering it.
