Even I don't understand why those people are destroying the bitcoin ATMs and making protests against bitcoin ?
What loss/damage does it cost them to use bitcoin and even if it does cost a damage then why don't they not use bitcoin at first place.
It's not like the government is prohibiting the use of USD and only accepting bitcoin. They still have both the options and people can choose what they like.
This act by those people seems like some anti-bitcoin group is funding them to do such actions against bitcoin.
If the government wants then they can penalize or punish the people involved in such acts but it's for their good that they are not doing any such things.
Violence and hooliganism are regular occurrences during politically motivated protests in Latin American region. The government needs to react with an iron hand. Or maybe this is what the protestors want. Then they can claim that the government is being too authoritarian on the protestors. In a way, I support the moderate approach taken by the president, Nayib Bukele. By allowing the protests to continue, the president has made sure that the public gets to see the vandalism and violence that they bring with them. And in the long run, this may turn the public opinion against the protestors.
Using violence on the protesters isn't a good idea. It will just increase the hate on bitcoin but that doesn't mean the gov shouldn't punish these people. They just need to make them pay for the harm they caused and they won't do it again. If they can't pay for the mess they created then send them to prison.
