Their government will ask them to sell their equipment cheaply or get to jail if they do not follow what they want. That is one sample of their trick that they can use for all people mining from their homes or factory. After they get almost all of the hardware, they will start mining, collect the money, and prepare for the next plan. But unfortunately, we do not know what the next of their plan so we can only guess.

For god's sake, you realize they could have just walked in those farms that were mining 6 months ago, seize them all and be over with it?
What would be the point to let million of gears flowing out of the country and then crack on the leftovers?
Use logic, not tinfoil hats, there is nothing good coming from that.

Good to know I'm not the only person affected by mass power rationing (Ethiopia) then, but I'm just curious, have you guys started to see a trend of electricity rationing in your countries (Whether related to mining, covid, climate crackdowns etc etc or not)?

Not rationing directly but rationing based on the price that is skyrocketing in the EU. Probably by early winter we will see the first forced blackouts as we're closing coal mines, we have no gas in the deposits, and there is a cold front coming as early as October, and so on and on. Lockdowns are completely lifted so the industry will run on full power, it will be one hell of a shitshow.

Back to the ban of sales, I think a lot of businesses in Vietnam are about to pop up and start selling miners.

Most likely, a friend of mine has two altcoin miners bought from a guy in Vietnam but the shipping was done from the Philippines to Nantes, then Bergen, and finally another thousand miles to him. So, there is always a way. Sellers will find one, the question is if they are going to have anything left to sell with those chips shortages.
