It has to be Conte if these are the only options available. I mean no disrespect to Lampard but he is still too early to be managing a club on Premier League level. His ascent to Chelsea's top management was premature and we already saw the result of that.
What are you saying, Chelsea was his second official club he managed. Lampard took us to top 4 finish which give us a shot at winning the champion league. He is the reason behind all the players Chelsea signed that took them believing in lampard rebuilding plans to join.the club. He give the academy a chance, the likes of James, Mount etc all because stars today because of him.
Without lampard giving Thomas Tuchel a building blueprint to work on he would not have succeeded as a manager. We were expecting too much for an inexperienced manager, lampard over achieve if you ask me. He came when we just lost hazard and had a transfer ban yet he delivered, give the man some break.
Think of Di Mateo taking the club on interim and lifting the Champions League trophy on the same season. That's what I would compare what happened to Chelsea when Lampard became the new manager. I don't know what it really is but there's a "breath of fresh air" effect when someone new takes over after dismal results.
I insist that Lampard is still a couple years early managing a premier league club. I think every coach in the top league needs more experience and success in lower tier teams.
