To be honest, I don't think it was a wise decision. Instead of getting it off, I expected him to do the proper citation ( edit and put it in a quote ). How is the Mod going to work without proper evidence? It's very bad he got himself into this situation.
As far as I know, Mods won't ban a user if he removed the plagiarism by himself. This user has far too many of them though, it wouldn't have helped him.
Yes, he had some time to clean up his mess, but he didn't know where to begin because he had so many. He was always active in the gambling section, and I don't see why a football fan would copy to make a post when you can boldly have more than 10+ posts from a match, there is always something to talk about, and some people don't even watch the game, instead copy/paste online comments and get themselves into trouble.
There was this user from our local section who was very active on the Technical discussion board. I warned him because I was 100% sure he was making every contribution with the help of Google and had no idea about bitcoin technical stuff. He ignored my advice and was banned for plagiarism a few days later. Posting on a board with zero knowledge always leads to plagiarism.
