This building on the first picture looks a lot like the type of buildings you expect to see in the Balkan countries. Gray and boring. Each flat has its own rules. There are satellite dishes everywhere, and it's not uncommon to see one apartment in one corner of the building painted in purple and another one on the opposite side in yellow, or something like that. I walk past one such work of art regularly.
