FTX.com doesn't require KYC, but you're capped at $2000 withdrawals every 24 hours. Lower withdrawal fees as well, with free withdrawals on Solana and SPL tokens. Binance has been around longer, but it could be argued that FTX is a bit more reputable.
I don't like the UI of FTX but the fee on that exchange is very good.

Blockchain Deposits and Withdrawals. You are correct. Last year, when Ethereum network had high gas price, FTX was waiving transaction fees on this blockchain.

They attracted people to use their exchanges for ETH and ERC20 token transactions and built up their reputation, expanded their customer population. It is a successful strategy from FTX.
