According to Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who spoke to CoinDesk TV on Thursday, "everyone in Miami is getting free bitcoin." Known as "the first Web3.0 city," the move is part of a fuzzier overall strategy to become "the first Web3.0 city." It involves separating apart the profits the city generates from MiamiCoin, which has already produced $21 million for the city.
It’s really good to see a government that is working hard to promote the use of cryptocurrency and making their city to be more advanced In technology than the others.
Though I’m still wondering, if they should share free bitcoins to people, is that really going to make them to adopt Bitcoin? Or are they just going to spend it and also move back to making use of the old Fiat that they have been making use of? Not minding, I know that is really going to workout because there would be people who would develop interest in Bitcoin after trying it out and seeing how it works with their free coin that they have received from the government. So, let’s hope that this is going to be a successful one, and will also motivate other states in the world to start adopting Bitcoin as well.
