Tried the butane method through a perfume extractor, but lots of problems, obtaining odorless butane, safety and so on.

Real hash is made from landrace plants grown in the Balkh province of northern Afghanistan, slowly dried, sieved through fine silk into jooshi garda, and then heated and kneaded into a rich black paste, being decarboxylated in the process.

It also strikes a blow against the Taliban. It was actually what helped the Northern Alliance (Dostum et al) kick the Taliban's ass out of Mazari Sharif back in 2001, after helping drive back the Soviets over a decade earlier.

Well my homegrown cannot compare with that. I did smoke Afghan hash in Holland when I was working traveling around Europe in early 70's. A very fine stoned and lovely taste. I have not seen it since.
The problem with modern plants is the race for unbalanced high THC strains.
I'm told the Taliban now tolerate heroin production when it is destined mostly for the west where it will harm the Kafir and make them money. Whereas hashish is frowned upon because it will be used mainly by Afghans which does not please Allah. Although most Afghans seem to like a smoke. And they too have a heroin problem.
