Some may fear that a government-issued cryptocurrency would eventually supplant Bitcoin.
Doubtful, until now I have never read news that people are excited/scared about CBDC. Both bitcoin and CBDC bring their own solutions and complement each other. If you thought CBDC could replace fiat, USDT should have done this a long time ago.

It will squander energy as a result of perpetual inflation and regulation.
Isn't it quite the opposite, it saves energy. Let's say to print more money, the bank simply increases the supply digits. And in order to confiscate person's wealth, the bank only needs to blacklist their addresses so it's excluded in any service. CBDC has nothing to do with inflation. Banks will not bear the inflation of a country, only the government itself has to fix their problems.Banks will not bear the inflation of a country, only the government itself has to fix their problems.
