^ I’m just saying if it’s all about the money. But if Toto Wolff is fighting for what’s right then I agree with coinlocket$. It’s questionable letting the lapped cars pass the safety car. They should have been released as is and waved a blue flag all around.
I'm sure it's not about the money, it's about the championship. If they wanted a race under any circumstances instead of finishing behind safety car, then they could have released as is, yes... but if that was in order to have a single lap shoot-out between Max and Lewis, why not just red flag it and send everyone back to pits. Then race could resume from the grid, and we may have had a few laps instead of one lap, with everyone on fresh tyres.
it’s end of the line for
Mercedes because to take it to court they need to convince F1 appointed panels to give a verdict against F1, and that’s not going to happen. However they yet have time to file that last appeal, but I think even they know it that’s it going to be rejected so doesn’t make any sense now to file it.
Yes, it does seem very unlikely that the FIA will convene a panel which then rules against the FIA! I'm no legal expert, but although they can't take it to the CAS, and the FIA appears to be the final authority here... still, you would think there might be something in French law whereby a legal case can go to a higher authority if the people you are fighting are the ones judging it.
