Bitcoin — which was designed to be resistant to inflation
Where did this narrative come from?
I haven't seen it mentioned in bitcoin paper or in any of Satoshi's comments. Show me if I've missed it but bitcoin was designed to give people financial freedom, meaning you don't have someone else's hand in your pocket to put simply.
Where have all bitcoin's narratives come from? Different people have different visions of Bitcoin, and they interpret what Satoshi has ever said about Bitcoin in their own subjective manner. Those who are unable or unwilling to develop their own vision or their own interpretation adopt the visions and interpretations of others. The "inflation hedge" narrative must have been born when someone rephrased Satoshi's words about conventional currency and how people need to trust central banks not to debase it.
The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that's required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust.
It is clear that Satoshi recognized the problem of currency debasement and kept it in mind designing Bitcoin. Currency debasement and inflation are likely synonymous because they both imply an artificial increase in the supply of money.
