I agree with your sentiments, we do not want to see the season cancelled and the most likely scenario being extending the season to allow postponed games to be played simply because the FIFA 2022 World Cup will be taking place in December in Qatar therefore no players or managers should have problems extending the season.

Honestly, I have no issues watching the games until the end of the season with empty stadiums but the most important thing from a footballing perspective is that games should go ahead with an extended season if necessary as long as they are safe to proceed with players tested regularly. Life is far more important than any football game, players and managers should not take risks and they should always send out the correct message to fans (especially young fans) to spread the message for them to keep safe and to take precautions trying to stop the spread of any variant of COVID-19.

Conte did make that powerful interview where he vented a lot of frustration by claiming the meeting between the managers and Premier League representatives was a waste of time since the decisions about the roadmap were already made and the managers were there just for the sake of it. I think there is probably a degree of accuracy about what he said but it just is not clear about what will happen if more players test positive rendering squads under the quota of minimum available players to force games to go ahead.

I read an article about managers meeting with the Premier League to discuss the next step with all these games being postponed. I think Klopp was credited with that, let us see what they some up with trying to finds solutions to the COVID-19 situation.
I'm conflicted about this, I don't want to see the season cancelled or even postponed anymore than the next fan, but it might be the right decision considering the amount of games that are getting postponed anyway. Could potentially cause some unfair match ups.

I'd like to see just extending the season, fix the congestion issue in January, and then put players into "bubbles" as they did before. Then, set a rule if there's more than x amount of covid positives, then the game is postponed as a last resort.

Managers should probably be expected to give their players some sort of punishment for breaching Covid rules too. I'm also obviously getting prepared to watch the rest of the season from TV without any fans, since that's probably the common sense thing to do.
