'The dollar is no longer relevant; Bitcoin is the currency of the future,' argues President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador.
In a recent interview with the BBC, El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele declared that Bitcoin represents the "real revolution" taking place in our world right now, and that the days of "fiat currency" are drawing to a close. Then he went on to say that El Salvador was the spark that ignited the actual revolution. With the adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender in September, El Salvador became the world's first country to do so.
I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the matter. What types of changes do you expect to take place?
The president of El-Salvador is obviously super bullish on bitcoin and its underlying technology. That's why his country has legalized bitcoin and replaced the USD as a main currency there. So it's no wonder that he will be saying such things.
But to be honest, the world government wouldn't let it happen. The fiat currencies will continue to exist like it does today. Bitcoin and other cryptos will form a parallel ecosystem and will continue to make progress.
Neither of these two systems will be replaced by each other!
he considers this adoption as a revolution because El Salvador itself doesn't have a currency of its own. the one they were using today is still USD and then there is BTC. i guess this is a revolution against USD.
as for the future, i guess it's still a fact that BTC is the one that will stand among the cryptocurrencies being decentralized as it is. it's not him from Latin America that is very vocal about it. one of Mexicos richest individuals Ricardo Salinas also bullish on BTC which in his tweet he recommends buying Bitcoin
