Any thoughts would be appreciated!
The time for privacy coin is coming to its end.
Just because the masses are batting an eye into Defi, NFT, and any dAaps supporting cryptocurrencies, does not mean highly privacy-centric coins will cease to exist. Each cryptocurrency has its own purpose, if there is enough of absurd people that flow their wealth into shitcoins, then those particular privacy coins will have its own benefit and it actually has the real utilities according to the user needs. So, I don't see it will end anytime soon!
I don't really like the use of concept "will end soon". It's not accurate by all means. And if this will happen at any time, this won't mean that the privacy/anonymity will be abandoned by crypto users.
Note that some cryptocurrencies oriented the development phases into another target focusing on adding additional layers for privacy. The example of bitcoin is the most well known since its lunch and i remember hear about the Mimble Wimble protocol maybe added as an additional layer for anonymity and more privacy.
Well, no one can factually predict when things are actually coming to end, but I believe anonymity/privacy coins especially Monero in a foreseeable time won't coming to end in regard to what the first quoted post. It is of course that on a general level, anonymity especially privacy is essential to every user's whether they are aware of it or not.
