ETH certainly brought something new to the table but it is not the only game in town. Why would it be all about ETH in 2022 while it has many competitors? ETH killers haven't gained considerable amount of momentum yet but in this space things migiht change very fast. Few years ago when ETH wasn't around, people thought BTC will be the only game forever but now it is not the only game anymore.
Exactly. There are so many competitors on the market with cheaper fees and faster confirmation times. What makes you think it'll be all about ETH in 2022? Just because ETH will become a PoS coin, doesn't mean that it'll get all of the attention in the mainstream world. Maybe in the short term, but long-term speaking, interest/demand will decline as competitors provide greater benefits to its users. ETH developers should focus more on rolling network upgrades in a timely manner, then delaying them altogether. Further delays will give a greater advantage to competitors on the market.
Considering that the PoS upgrade was delayed several times, I don't think ETH will be going anywhere after its launch. What's preventing ETH from losing its second position on the market is its first-mover advantage. ETH is still the most decentralized cryptocurrency after Bitcoin, so that's the only thing keeping it afloat. 2022 started bearish, so I doubt ETH will gain traction anytime soon. Just my thoughts
