Brazilian Mayor Eduardo Paes wants to invest 1% of Rio de Janeiro's Treasury reserves in bitcoin. If he goes ahead, the megacity will be the first in Brazil to buy the principal cryptocurrency as a store of value. Paes also intends to offer a 10% tax rebate if taxes are paid in BTC.
