I am now absolutely certain that you have to create an account and be logged in to Taobao to be able to browse the marketplace properly. If you go to their homepage and enter any search field, the same thing happens. The site asks you to log in. Even if you select one of the items on the left, you still won't be able to see them. Just make an account and I am sure it will work.
