Hold will only likely turn gold for you if you hold the good coins not those that will fade away in months to few years, also I prefer building a portfolio a year to BTC halving season meaning that I won't have to hold for too long this is the smarter decision
True, hold is gold if we invest in coins that do have a clear project. We can't be arbitrary in choosing, it's the same as holding a ticking time bomb. Although we will hold it for a long time, there must still be clarity in the project.
If we only rely on hold without doing research first, it means we only rely on luck, if so be prepared for the worst risk.
