Rule 1 and Rule 2 seem not to agree with each other, why not just put it as delete any old entries or your last entry is your valid entry into comp.

Yes, edited posts do not count.
If you make a new post with a new Bet ID then it is obvious we'll not count your older entries that are edited.
So it helps us to prevent cheating in case a participant decides to delete their entry in which they lost so their 'Won' entry will count.
This also creates a sense of fairness for everyone, let me know if you want to know something else.
