It's very common recommendation from a lot of users but i don't think all of the top 100 coins in Coinmarketcap would be profitable in short term and there are several coins looks worst in short term or long term investment. And a few coins are overrated which aren’t promising and they haven’t any reliable products in the market.
I would guess that it wasn't meant to say ALL of top 100, he says good fundamental ones. There are around 20-25 good fundamental and utility coins and tokens that people are using everyday, and I am guessing that we will probably see that going on for a little while as well.
I cannot say that it will be easy to pick which ones are these good ones and people argue over that for a long time now but some of them are easy to predict. Like btc, eth,ltc,bnb these are solid for everyone and almost everyone agrees to this, find like 15 more like this where people would buy it to use it and not simply buy it to hold it, and you will get a good 20 coins that you could hold.
