Yeah there's promotion involve but the story sounds true to me.Photo of the father and son who helped her in another article:

Mine was a little different. She gave them info, paid an upfront money, and never got anything in return 
It's the stories that I usually read from victims of (fraudulent) recovery services. She was lucky to meet those guys instead of scammers
