I know that Bitcoin has become more known and trusted by many people but I still see many popular websites don't accept bitcoin like amazon. I'm only seeing bitcoin is mostly used for illicit activites or as an investment. Why Bitcoin isn't adopted yet in most legimate websites?
I think many factors are why companies are still not able to accept bitcoin as one of their payment alternatives. maybe some of it includes legality, regulation, and the most difficult to maintain is the enormous fluctuation. companies like steam once accepted bitcoin as one of their payment alternatives. however, because at that time the price of bitcoin fell, it seems that they again removed bitcoin as one of their trading tools. Well, that's just speculation, but it seems that too many companies can't withstand the huge fluctuations.
The point is that we can't really adjust to it because when the price drops, money decreases as well, but the forex still fluctuate and only loses a few cents, as opposed to bitcoin which loses a significant amount of money, but if the price goes up, that would also be considered fortunate. Regarding legality, I believe only a few countries have outright prohibited it, with the majority of countries falling somewhere in the middle. Given the volatility of Bitcoin that is why fewer merchants are accepting it and taking the risk. Additionally, bitcoin transaction fees are currently prohibitively expensive .
