Kazakhstan Energy Ministry has made an official announcement of having discovered 13 illegal cryptocurrency mining operations, coordinating procedures terminating their license.
This shutdown of these illegal operations is part of the efforts to regulate the Bitcoin mining sector which has been increasingly popular in recent years.
Kazakhstan is emerging as the second largest Bitcoin producer following the Chinese government crypto crackdown. They house over 18% of the world's hash rate recorded in August 2021.
Kazakhstan president, Kassym Jomart Tokayev has approved the creation of a tax category particularly for Bitcoin mining. And also ordered a cabinet level investigation of cryptocurrency in the country, meanwhile, the Kazakh first vice minister of finance, Marat Sultangaziyves proposed power hikes for crypto miners.
This would further boost the economy of the country too.
