One piece of the advice from someone who has been active on various forums for the last ~20 years: grow thicker skin or you won't have a very good time here, or on any other forum for that matter. That's just how it goes on forums, like on real life; you may say some some things that other people won't like or agree with and they will respond. In the end, that's what forums are all about, exchange the ideas. In the end, you always have ignore option.
Right we are not dealing with all like minded people and this forum also has diversity of users who share different thoughts in their mindset and you cannot conceive them all with what you have said so it's better to be part of healthy discussion but also ignore some comments and deal it as forum.This is intended to share knowledge and discuss ideas and opinions and it differs.
The OP is too obsessed with merits, overlooking concepts such as usefulness, secondariness, or plagiarism. Therefore, he works not for quality, but for quantity, churning out topics that do not open anything new, but only repeat what has already been previously published. I agree with this, so I began to bypass such topics and not pay attention to them.
It is the intention of many new members here to make big post citing the main issues which are directly copied and then portray them as theirs without any source.They are in rush to gain merits like @OP so that they can rank up a little bit so as to earn on forum but what's the fun of that? Your account will get ban so instead of understanding the true importance of this forum which is exchange of knowledge between members and enhance your knowledge and make quality post they choose the other way which leads to ban only.
I don't think we should care how people give merits. I have seen a post given 50 merits just because the giver wanted to prove a point.
The merit system was intended to improve the post quality on forum and reduce the spam posting but if some merit abuse is occurring then also we should not care at all? I have seen members giving out large number of merits to some bounty reports submission also so what point they were proving according to you? The deserving members or post should get it and we should care for it.
