Yes, you are both right. We can't live using crypto yet because of government regulations, and even though we really want to, we still won't be able to. It's better to stay in a situation like this until the time comes when we can live using only cryptocurrencies. And if it's 10 years or more, we still can't use crypto, that's fine. We just enjoy this situation, and we should be grateful that we can still use crypto without having a problem.
But if @OP wants to stick with his idea, he'd better rethink and think about the consequences he'll have in the future. But I hope he's okay.
Since 2018 until now I have used bitcoin several times as a means of payment but not for face-to-face transactions. Obviously I do transactions online because it's the only way to use bitcoin as a means of payment when the regulations don't legalize it.
To be honest, I've never had a problem with regulations that prohibit users from using bitcoin as a legal tender because the government has the right to regulate it. As long as bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are not completely banned like China's ban, then I think we are fine even if we have to comply with regulations.
