L1 blockchains have the most potential and are safer bets than most tokens built on top of these L1's. There is a network effect where each token deployed on a network increases the value of the underlying network. I'm most bullish on the following L1's: NEAR, ICP, and Fantom. ICP is my top pick right now considering the capabilities of its blockchain- sub 1 second transaction times, over 28% staking rewards, the ability to run websites on top of the blockchain etc. The internet computer isn't just an L1, it's the new internet.
Agree, the safest investments currently are still Bitcoin and Ether, but if we want to find other potential altcoins to diversify our portfolio Layer1 is the best choice. Can't say it's really secure as it all still depends on bitcoin but clearly Layer1 projects are being considered as the backbone for future scaling projects.
