Sister, the correct way to ignore a user is
Go to Profile ---> Ignore User Options ---> Find Members ---> Search for the Username ---> Press Change profile
Now, you will not be able to see the ignored users msgs like shown in below Screenshot.
Thank you for sharing the in detail but don't need to go into such details, ignore shortcut is right there under the profile of the user
