Because we saw Russell as the 2nd and 1st driver in the standings in these sessions. Hamilton ended as the 8th first but he also improved his position by making it to the 4th position. We can hopefully see Mercedes drivers achieving a good success this week. At least one of them seems to be very likely to finish the race on the podium. And that driver seems to be like Russell to me for now.
I am so happy for Russel. He is finally shining bright in a car that is up to his skill levels. The last few races definitely proof that he is world champion material. For the first time in a very long time, Lewis Hamilton has a really competitive teammate of comparable talent in George Russell. The last time that occurred was with Fernando Alonso.
