You're right about the difference between the trash NFT, which exists only to make money from you, and the real NFT, made by famous and well-known artists in a limited number. But not every well-known artist truly follows that standard, they could do NFT under 'a limited number' to create artificial scarcity to trick you into thinking it was worth it. The hype around NFTs is about everyone thought they could dump their NFTs to the next one with a higher price, a net gain from their initial investment on the things. The 'line keep going up' mentality.
When it comes to art collection some still prefer the traditional buying of canvass , probably some collectirs or investors tries buying NFT but later on still go back in the traditional way of owning an art. Same with NFT play to earn games that get popular at the start but later on people lose interest. There's a need for continuity of developments so the people will not be stuck up and it should be supported by a active community to makes the hype continuous, the additional factor is we know how the market performs now and everyone investment is affected that is better to hold than o focus in NFT.
