A rather strange result, given that this game did not decide anything for Nantes in the tournament sense. Taking into account the fact that in the next round Rennes is playing with Marseille, and Strasbourg with a weak Clermont, Rennes has a chance in just two rounds to fly out of the Champions League zone to be in the zone without euro cups.
I am also shocked with this result as they were doing amazing job in last few matches, but suddenly they lost three matches which are now bringing them without any Euro Competitions because Marseille is in good touch, and they can thrash them out.
They were doing amazing job and having good opportunity for Champions League, but now Monaco is on and with this they need to beat Marseille for Europa Cup qualification otherwise Nice and Strasbourg both are ready for grabbing this chance they have both games very tough as first going to face Marseille at home and then struggling Lille which is not good but can stop them for any good chance. Now Nice, Strasbourg and Rennes these all having fair chance for European competitions.
Reason for Rennes' optimism may be that Marseille will not be highly motivated to win the away game, but on the other hand, although Marseille's position in second place is quite solid, they need to score at least 2 points to protect themselves from an attack from Nice. Now I think that this game will end in a draw. This would be the most logical result.
