I always lock myself in my room when I face big problems like losing someone I love, work and even losing money while gambling (my family understands my behavior). usually after 8 to 9 days, all my feelings will return to normal and start to get better. I really have a hard time hiding my behavior when I'm at a loss and it still happens to this day.
Myself had similar experience when I had the first big loss in gambling. By that time I need myself to be alone and I was into the room for a week. I'm not completely into the room, but it is possible for my parents to find the difference. They understood something has happened and didn't disturbed me. Later understood and now I know what need to be spend and what needs to be kept aside for living needs.
