I can not trade my family and my integrity for anything if gambling will make my wife want to divorce me I would stop. My main aim of gambling is to make more money to take good care of my wife and the family so once it is making me appear like an irresponsible man am going to stop it, I got to be there for my family so if gambling wanna stop me from having time to spend with my lovely family I won't hesitate to stop all my gaming and gambling activities.
That is if you chose to be a responsible, family man. However, addict gamblers find it hard to stop gambling even if its already leaving them broke and become very unhealthy. They will always continue gambling as long as they find some means to gamble. In that case, we have nothing to do with that, even money and health issues, and family issues cannot stop them so let them live as gamblers and become regretful in the end. The only thing that will stop them from gambling is when they come to suffer the long term effects of gambling.
If you are addicted, the thing your wife or your family should do is not to leave you, it should be to help you stop. That is how a real family acts, they try to help the person who does the wrong thing and try to set them to the right place, leaving is the easy way out, and wouldn't benefit anyone at all. Which one sounds better, a family that is divorced and apart, or a family that overcame an addiction?
Of course, the addiction overcoming part is much better. That is not an easy task at all, it is a very difficult part that makes a family's life a misery but when you are in love with someone, that is how much hardship that you will face and still be with someone.
